Track Thursday: Fly By Night (R3K Remix)

Music is one of those things that I love, but can’t seem to keep up with anymore. The running joke among all my friends is that my iPod is stuck in 2004… it’s true. If you heard the songs on it, you’d be taken back to the beginning of the best indie/electronic/new wave that came out during 2004-2006. During these years, I was so active in music- going to Warped Tour every summer, going to 4-6 shows a month (this is before Ticketmaster Live Nation when tickets cost $12 at the door) and being a super fan and trying to meet my fave bands (The Faint, Moving Units, Metric, Broken Social Scene, etc.) You’ll also find an array of remixes (I am obsessed with remixes) and old school rap and hip hop- I grew up listening to a lot of Dr. Dre, Biggie, Snoop from the late 90′s early 2000′s, so that’s all in there too + Lil Wayne, because why not?

Over the last few years, I’ve used sites like Indie Shuffle (cool fact: this site was started by a guy I went to college with, awesome right?), Hype Machine, Spotify, and Pandora to keep me up to date with new music, so now I’ll be sharing a weekly song that I’m obsessed with. And yes, by obsessed I mean playing it on repeat until i’m completely sick of it. Enjoy.

Cheers to a New Year!

Happy New Year! Who knew that after Y2K + the Mayan calendar ordeals, we’d be celebrating 2013….

I watched a video last night that recapped 2012, while it’s a bit all over the place (I would have liked it chronologically as a time lapse) it’s still a great video to watch-  2012 in 4 Minutes, insane right?

2012 was great for many reasons- I received my Masters degree, got a great job that I love, took a much needed trip to NY to visit my best friend and made amazing new friends. As with life, there were some things I wish I would have changed but overall, I’m really happy with where I’m at and the people in it.

2013 goals are going to be simple and realistic- because at the end of it all, I want to enjoy everything I do and not feel like I didn’t do “enough.” With that being said, here are a few things I am going to be working on:

-Explore the city: I’ve lived in LA for 1.5 years now (keep in mind, I was born and raised here but left in my teen years to college and I didn’t do any raging when I was young, so I’m a bit slow on “knowing” my city). With my office moving to Marina Del Rey mid year, this is the perfect time for me to explore neighborhoods and get to know LA better.

-Try new restaurants: I typically stick to the same places I know, so venturing off and trying new places sounds kind of exciting and hopefully tasty too!

-Blog more: I feel like a broken record for this one, i’m sure I have mentioned this something during 2012, but this year, I’m going to make a more conscious effort to at least document the things that make an impact in my life. I’m not guaranteeing daily content (although that might be a goal I work towards) but definitely post more interesting and visually fun posts.

-Be more social: I don’t mean as in my social networks, I mean IRL. <– How internet of me, ha! I feel like I need to start scheduling my weekends with at least 1 fun hang out, brunch or dinner date with a friend to catch up. I’ve been terrible at this and it’s something I need to work on.

-Get a gym membership: I know, the tedious task of losing weight, getting in shape, etc. I won’t set myself up for failure by saying ” I need to lose #lbs this year” instead, I’m going to be realistic and start simple. I need to start getting myself into the gym. During the summer, I typically ride my beach cruiser for 6-12 miles, so this will definitely happen again (as I’ll be living and working closer to the beach!)

-Find my ideal apartment: I set a goal of moving to the West side by April (I actually said February, then March, but with the holidays, my bank account is telling me otherwise!) so I have the task of finding a neighborhood that I like with a place that I can see myself in for a year or two. Also, finding pet friendly places in the West side is becoming more difficult than expected.

Cook more/Learn new recipes: I love to cook, although I don’t do much of it now. When I lived in SF, I began quite the chef- although my food is tasty, it’s not visually appealing all the time. I enjoy cooking from time to time, so I think I’ll invest into a good cookbook and try out some new recipes.

Spend more active time with my dogs: I work long hours and commute in traffic a total of 4 hrs a day, so by the time I get home (around 8pm) I’m beat. While my older dog is chill and relaxed all the time, my younger one is active, hyper and craves attention. Once the weather gets a bit warmer and bearable for them (they’re Chihuahuas) daily walks need to happen. Or at least a bike ride (I had a basket installed on my bike for them) to the park and some play time will be on the agenda.

With all that being said, I’ll let you guys know of my progress fulfilling those goals. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are excited to fulfill your own 2013 goals!

Take me to Seychelles

Let’s take a second to gain our composure and really ask ourselves, how perfect is this villa on this island? I mean, doesn’t it just scream perfection? If you’re still weary, here’s what the folks of Home Designing had to say about it:

“A tranquil retreat for many, this private island villa offers an extensive view of the beach and a getaway that is out of reach for many. Private dining and drinks on the beach, a boat ride and evenings by the pool, sumptuous food and every other heavenly thing that one can think of is available here. Location is the key here of course but beyond that, a touché of elegance and sophistication makes it all the more cool!”

This is ideal for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or even a relaxing vacation away from the craziness of everyday life. Definitely adding this to my list of places to visit. So beautiful.

RIP Anna Piaggi

The fashion world is mourning as a true icon has passed away.

Anna Piaggi, known for her distinctive style and hair, which could be seen front row at Paris and Milan fashion shows and her voice in fashion as a journalist, will be sadly missed.

Miss Dior

Mila looks stunning and beautiful in the new Miss Dior campaign. So classic.

This is Summer

It’s been a while since a post, a lot has happened and well, life is just busy. Hope you enjoy some shots from my recent shoots. More to come soon.
